Archetype NINE is in the Somatic/Physical Belonging triad.
It moves through the Divine, Nature, and Human Octaves of being.
Embodied reflection invites a felt sense of its Freedom.
In the Nature Octave, Archetype Nine is the domain of fluidity and combining. Nine exudes the Power of Blend, illustrated in estuarial ecosystems, where fresh water and saltwater come together to create a balanced home for diverse lifeforms.
From microscopic organisms to vast galaxies, the entire universe is templated by the Principle of Synergy at the Soul Octave, and empowered with the capacity to intermingle at the Nature Octave. Although boundaries between all things are porous, some degree of distinction is required in order to blend.
This card urges you to fully inhabit your body and acknowledge your own energy, so that you are present to your Somatic Belonging. Engaging with the tactile pleasures of physical reality will naturally improve your capacity to harmoniously mix with others.
Practice: Threshold Breath
Duration: 6–7 minutes
Intention: Feel what it’s like to stay balanced at a threshold
Step 1 – Find the Edge (1 min)
Stand with your arms by your sides at any threshold—between two rooms, between indoors and outdoors, between water and dry land.
Place your LEFT foot on one side and your RIGHT foot on the other, letting the center of your body bridge the two.
Step 2 – Breathing Sides (3 min)
On an inhale, reach your LEFT arm out to that side of the threshold, and lower it back to your side as you exhale.
On your next inhale, reach your RIGHT arm out to that side of the threshold, and lower it back to your side on your exhale.
Continue this alternating arm movement for several more rounds of breath, letting it be slow and steady.
Pay attention to how you feel, noting differences you experience between sides.
Step 3 – Blending Breath (2–3 min)
Rest your arms by your sides and breathe comfortably.
Close your eyes and feel both sides of your body.
Be aware of both sides of the threshold—the temperature, breeze, energies.
Let these differences mix within you and become a conscious part of your experience.
Inwardly affirm: “I can meet and mix without losing myself.”
Journal Prompts:
“Something I found surprising while doing this activity…”
“When I feel the energy of both sides…”
