Archetype TWO is part of the Intimate/Emotional Belonging triad.
It moves through the Divine, Nature, and Human Octaves of being.
All Archetypes express their Inverted form when
the felt sense of belonging is fractured.
When self-worth is tied to being needed, Archetype Two has lost contact with Intimate Belonging and its gifts have become inverted. When you do not acknowledge your own vulnerability, it’s easy to project it onto others. Emotional manipulation is then a covert way to take care of yourself, yet it smothers the intimacy you long for.
When you are moved to care for the tenderness of another, it is good to connect with own your tenderness first. It is not selfish to tend to yourself or to ask for what you want. Sorrow signals the need to relate to your own longings, and to practice receiving as well as giving.
Practice: "Tending Your Own Tenderness"
Duration: 5–7 minutes
Intention: Reconnect with your emotional needs & restore balance in giving/receiving
Step 1: Acknowledge the Habit (1–2 min)
Ask: "Do I feel more worthy when others need me?"
Let the question land in the body, without answering mentally.
Step 2: Feel Your Own Tenderness (2–3 min)
Place both hands over your heart or belly.
Ask: "What do I need right now that I haven’t voiced or honored?"
Step 3: Practice Receiving (2–3 min)
Imagine someone offering your love, support, or care.
Imagine yourself to receiving it.
Whisper: "I am worthy of love, even when I am not needed."
Additional Journal Prompts:
"What I’m most wanting to receive is…"
“If I allow someone to support me, they might feel…"
When considering the Inversion of Archetype Two, it can be helpful to review the Soul Octave, Nature Octave, and (un-inverted) Human Octave to help you align with this archetype’s natural expression of belonging.
