Nine Archetype: Inversion
distress signal: dissociate from here & now
Archetype NINE is in the Somatic/Physical Belonging triad.
It moves through the Divine, Nature, and Human Octaves of being.
All Archetypes express their Inverted form when
the felt sense of belonging is fractured.
In the Human Octave, Archetype Nine inverts when you abdicate presence from physical reality and dissociate from Somatic Belonging. When out of contact with your environment and body, you are unable to feel your own life force, your needs, your desires.
Inverted Nine anesthetizes the liveliness of anger that is trying to assert a boundary. Unfelt energy accumulates and may erupt in destructive ways. Anger indicates that a limit, need, or preference wants to be acknowledged. Doing that needn’t cause harm, but it will underscore distinction.
Harmony expresses your freedom to turn the discord of difference into music. This card is an invitation you deepen your somatic experience of being alive.
Practice: Practice: Permission to Feel
Duration: 7–11 minutes
Intention: Reclaim liveliness by honoring feelings/sensations
Step 1 – Contact the Signal (2-3 min)
Sit or stand in somewhere you’ll be undisturbed.
Take a breath and come to a place of stillness.
Bring to mind a recent moment when you felt avoidant, quietly irritated, disconnected, or numb.
Without analyzing, touch a place on your body where you now feel sensation.
Direct your breath into that sensation.
Inwardly say: “I am allowed to feel this.”
Step 2 – Allow It to Move (3–5 min)
Give your body permission to show you how that sensation would like to move.
It might be a simple gesture. It could be stomping, shaking, stretching, pressing, curling.
You can’t do this wrong. Let your body lead.
Feel the energy of that sensation expressing itself—not as violence, but as life-force energy reclaiming its direction.
Inwardly affirm: “My feelings signal my belonging.”
Repeat this process as many times as you’d like. Find a new bodily sensation each time and let that sensation express itself through movement.
Step 3 – Return to Presence (2–3 min)
Return to stillness and gently lengthen your spine.
Lace both hands over your heart or lower belly.
Breathe deeply into the inner space you’ve reclaimed.
Whisper: “I belong here, in this body. I am free to feel and to move.”
